Psyon Chess Junior Club, Bromley — Improvers
Wednesdays 6.15–7.15pm
The improvers’ session at Bromley, the second of the two run on a Wednesday afternoon. It suits a child who already plays and wants to get better, up to an ECF standard rating of 1200.
Sessions combine a structured curriculum with group coaching on a large screen, interactive puzzles, tactical themes, common checkmate patterns, opening principles and practice games, so a child learns something new and then plays it straight away. There are regular competitions and junior-only tournaments too, where children can earn and improve an official ECF or FIDE rating.
The club runs largely during school term dates.

From a parent at the club
My son has been attending Psyon Chess for some time now and absolutely loves it. He looks forward to every session and has made great progress, both in his chess skills and his confidence.
Satish is a great teacher and explains things in a way that keeps the children interested and engaged. I really like the balance between learning new skills and having the chance to play against other children.
It has been lovely to see my son’s enjoyment of chess grow. A friendly, welcoming and well-run club that I would happily recommend to any parent whose child enjoys chess.
